Am I awake during a lens replacement treatment?
Yes, a lens replacement treatment is done under local anaesthetic. This has the advantage that you can be approached during the treatment and the surgeon can ask you questions. You will also experience fewer side effects than if you were under anesthesia.
Do you find the treatment exciting or scary? Then you can ask for a sedative. It takes a while to work, so ask ahead of time.
