To improve the quality of care, we will hold a training day for the entire team on 6 July. On that day we can only be reached on the emergency number for acute cases. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Can young people (teenagers) already have laser eye surgery?

Teens are often insecure about their appearance. Glasses can make that uncertainty even greater. Young people who do a lot of sports often find glasses or contact lenses an obstacle and often want to get rid of them for that reason.

Unfortunately, laser treatment is only possible from the age of 18. The eye is only fully grown around this age, sometimes even slightly later. If a laser treatment is done before the eyes are fully grown, the result is often not permanent and a new treatment is required. So it’s a costly affair. Sometimes, however, a second treatment is no longer even possible due to the thickness of the cornea or other abnormalities. To prevent this, the eye must be stable for about 1 year after it has matured. Only then can it be treated.
