How long should the contact lenses be removed before a pre-examination appointment?

You must remove any contact lenses you may be wearing prior to the examination. This is necessary for an optimal and realistic result of your measurements. Wearing lenses changes the structure and/or shape of the cornea and affects tear film stability. The appointment cannot take place if you have not had your lenses out for a long enough time.

Soft lenses: Remove and remove 2 weeks before the pre-examination.
Hard lenses: remove and remove 4 weeks before the pre-examination.
Night lenses: remove and remove 6 weeks before the preliminary examination.

 

Tip: You can switch from hard contact lenses or night lenses to soft contact lenses, which means you have to put on the glasses for 2 weeks.
