What should I look for when choosing a refractive surgery clinic?

When choosing a refractive surgery clinic, it is important that your starting point is quality. Of course the price also plays a role, but we think it is important that this should not be your first starting point. At Visus Oogkliniek you don’t have to worry about both, we offer you the best quality for the lowest price!

Quality

We recommend that you make your selection based on the quality standards of the professional association. The umbrella association within the Netherlands is the Nederlands Oogheelkundig Gezelschap (NOG) and the Dutch Society for Refraction Surgery (NGRC) for Refraction Surgery.

The NOG advises people to go to ZKN certified clinics and be treated by NGRC certified refractive surgeons. These certifications can only be obtained after multiple rigorous audits, in which the quality of medical care and knowledge/skills of doctors are assessed.

Visus Oogkliniek has 4 BIG registered ophthalmologists, who are all individually certified for the NGRC refractive surgeon certificate. Visus Oogkliniek has also been a full member since 2016 and is annually assessed and successfully certified for the ZKN quality mark.

In June 2021, the NOG (Nederlands Oogheelkundig Gezelschap) carried out a quality inspection at our request, which was successfully completed.
