Why is the IntraLasik method cheaper than the ReLEx Smile?
The VisuMax laser from Zeiss is the latest device and the only laser with which the ReLEx® SMILE treatment can be performed. This device requires an investment of more than 1 million euros. Fixed costs, training costs and licenses on the device are also required. These costs are higher than with other devices and treatment methods.
Furthermore, the manufacturer of the VisuMax (Zeiss) only certifies the best surgeons to perform ReLEx® SMILE treatments, limiting the number of doctors who can perform this treatment.
These (investment) costs are lower with the IntraLasik treatment than with the SMILE method.
