Can young people (teenagers) already undergo laser eye surgery?

Teenagers are often insecure about their appearance, and wearing glasses can increase this insecurity. Young people who are very active in sports often find glasses or contact lenses inconvenient and may want to get rid of them for that reason.

Unfortunately, laser eye surgery is only possible from the age of 18. Around this age, the eyes are fully developed sometimes even a little later. If laser treatment is performed before the eyes have fully matured, the results are often not permanent and an additional treatment may be required, which can be costly. In some cases, a second treatment may no longer be possible due to corneal thickness or other eye conditions. To prevent this, the eyes should be stable for approximately one year after full development before treatment can be performed.
