How high is the risk of complications?

Laser eye surgery is a relatively minor procedure and is generally safe. However, as with any medical procedure, no treatment is completely without risk. Although the procedure is performed by a highly experienced surgeon, complications however rare can never be entirely ruled out. In addition, every body responds differently.

Fortunately, most complications that may occur are well treatable.

During the pre-examination, we carefully assess whether there are any factors that may increase your risk of complications. If this is the case, we will of course discuss this with you. In consultation with the doctor, you can then make a well-informed decision. If the risk is considered too high, the doctor may advise against undergoing the treatment. Some complications can occur shortly after the procedure, such as an infection. Other issues may arise later on, for example dry eyes.
