Can a cylinder defect be treated with Relex SMILE?

ReLEx® SMILE can perfectly correct myopia (minor strengths) and a cylinder deviation (astigmatism).

A cylinder deviation occurs when the eyeball is not round but oval, like a rugby ball. The light then refracts in different directions and two focal points are created. This will cause blurry or double vision.

Usually the strength of a cylinder does not exceed -6.0 Dpt and the laser has no trouble correcting this. The laser can be set to make the cornea (the front of your eye) ’rounder’.
