TransPRK

The TransPRK procedure is a safe procedure performed entirely with laser, without the creation of an incision or flap. This method combines precise correction with maximum safety and is particularly suitable for people with thin corneas or sensitive eyes.

No-Touch Technique

The TransPRK procedure is performed entirely by laser, without any incisions or tools. Everything happens in a single, seamless step, making the treatment safe, precise, and highly controlled. Ideal for people with thin or sensitive corneas, TransPRK offers a natural healing process in which the cornea renews its own protective layer. After a few days, vision returns to sharp and stable, with lasting results.

About the treatment

How TransPRK Works?

During a TransPRK procedure, the laser precisely removes just the epithelium, which naturally grows back on its own.

1.
Local anesthesia
Your eye is first numbed with eye drops, so you won’t feel any sharp pain during the procedure
2.
Treatment of the cornea
You watch a green light while the excimer laser shapes the corneal tissue
3.
Protection of the corneal epithelium
The corneal tissue must be protected with a protective lens, which will be removed during the control appointment.

Answer:

TransPRK is a next-generation surface-based laser eye surgery, this makes it an excellent option for individuals who seek a safer, more natural alternative to traditional LASIK.

Answer:

TransPRK is particularly suitable for patients who, for example, have a thin cornea and a low degree of myopia.
During the comprehensive preoperative examination, we will thoroughly assess your medical situation and provide you with personalized advice.

Answer:

Unlike other treatment methods, the license for TransPRK is the least expensive, as we do not have to pay per eye.

Answer:

All treatments have advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, it is difficult to say which treatment is best for you. This depends, among other things, on your personal preferences, your circumstances (such as work and sports), and the type of eye condition you have.

We will, of course, provide you with extensive information about all the advantages and disadvantages of the different treatment methods so that you can make an informed choice yourself. However, you cannot make a wrong decision. All methods are safe, effective, and have a very high success rate.

TransPRK:
With this treatment, the outer thin layer of the cornea is removed. After the procedure, you will wear a protective bandage contact lens for a few days. The total treatment time is only about 30 seconds per eye.

IntraLASIK:
In this procedure, the doctor creates a flap using the VisuMax laser. The underlying tissue is then treated with an excimer laser. The treatment takes approximately 2 to 5 minutes per eye.

Relex SmilePro:
In this treatment, a small lens-shaped piece of tissue is created beneath the surface of the cornea using the VisuMax laser. The surgeon then makes a small opening in the cornea to remove this lenticule. This treatment also takes approximately 1 to 5 minutes per eye.

Answer:

We can answer this with a resounding “yes.” Extensive research has been conducted on the safety of laser eye treatments and the various techniques used. Laser eye surgery consistently proves to be safe. Naturally, the level of safety also depends on the knowledge and experience of the surgeon, as well as the safety standards of the clinic and its equipment. It is therefore important to choose a reliable clinic with experienced surgeons for your laser eye procedure.

You can trust that all these aspects are more than perfectly in order at Visus Eye Clinic. Just take a look at the reviews from the many satisfied patients who came before you. For the most trustworthy and independent reviews, you can visit platforms such as Trustpilot, Zorgkaart Nederland, and Kliniekervaringen. Visus Eye Clinic has the highest number of reviews in the Netherlands and the highest rating a 9.6 based on more than 3,000 patient experiences.

In addition, at Visus we use the latest equipment and closely follow new techniques. Our surgeons are experts in their field and regularly provide training sessions and lectures to other ophthalmologists. It is no coincidence that Visus is the largest laser eye clinic in the Netherlands.

Still not convinced? In the United States, more than 16 million people have undergone laser eye surgery. Of these, over 96% are highly satisfied with the treatment, largely due to the very low risk of complications.

Answer:

People who wear contact lenses often do not realize that this involves certain risks. Research has shown that contact lens wearers have an approximate risk of 1 in 1,000 of developing eye damage due to infections. In addition, damage can occur as a result of scarring, scratches, or the formation of new blood vessels in the eye.

The risk of eye damage caused by contact lenses is more than ten times higher than with a properly performed laser eye surgery.
